From Food Snobbery is My Hobbery (you should do the survey yourself!):
1. Favorite non-dairy milk?
Soymilk. Does that make me lame? Too bad!
2. What are the top 3 dishes/recipes you wish Your Vegan Mom would make you?
That vegan chicken fried steak
Apple Pie
Apple Pie
3. Topping of choice for popcorn?
Salt. Sometimes margarine, but yeah, mostly salt.
4. Most disastrous recipe/meal failure?
One time I made these pancakes and I couldn't figure out why they came out so rubbery and dense and...strange. I then realized that I'd put in soy protein powder instead of whole wheat pastry flour. On the plus side, we had vegan Atkins pancakes. Label your storage bins, people.
5. Favorite pickled item?
Ginger
6. How do you organize your recipes?
Uh...I don't?
7. Compost, trash, or garbage disposal?
We recently got a worm bin for composting, they are so cool. They eat our vegetable scraps and then make worm tea, which is a great fertilizer. Speaking of which, how are those worms doing?
8. If you were stranded on an island and could only bring 3 foods...what would they be (don't worry about how you'll cook them)?
Pizza, tacos, panang curry
9. Fondest food memory from your childhood?
Pulling over-ripe plums off our tree in the backyard and sucking out their innards.
10. Favorite vegan ice cream?
Scoops!
11. Most loved kitchen appliance?
The dishwasher.
12. Spice/herb you would die without?
Basil
13. Cookbook you have owned for the longest time?
Pass
(Upon Trina's insistence that passes were not alowed, Paul would like to change his answer to:
"In college my parents gave me a Top Ramen Cookbook.")
14. Favorite flavor of jam/jelly?
There's this plum jam we got from Croatia called Pekmez od Sljiva. Available in at least one Croatian market in San Pedro. Wow.
15. Favorite vegan recipe to serve to an omni friend?
Orange flavored tofu. Gets 'em every time.
16. Seitan, tofu, or tempeh?
Tofu is certainly the most versatile and practical. But nothing beats deep fried tempeh.
17. Favorite meal to cook (or time of day to cook)?
Breakfast. Nothing better than whipping up some pancakes to make the family happy.
18. What is sitting on top of your refrigerator?
A basket of onions, a basket of potatoes and a basket of...something.
19. Name 3 items in your freezer without looking.
Homemade frozen soup, frozen fruit for smoothies, my ice cream canister for the next time I make some homemade vegan ice cream.
20. What's on your grocery list?
Soymilk, bourbon, coffee. You know, the essentials.
21. Favorite grocery store?
Trade Joe's
22. Name a recipe you'd love to veganize, but haven't yet.
Doughnuts!
23. Food blog you read the most (besides Isa's because I know you check it everyday). Or maybe the top 3?
Dare I say it? yourveganmom.com! Seriously, I check it three or for times a day.
(Thanks Paul. He should also read Hugger Food, To Live and Eat in L.A, and Hot Knives.) I love LA...we love it!
24. Favorite vegan candy/chocolate?
Dark chocolate. Not a real candy guy, come back to me when we're discussing apple pie.
25. Most extravagant food item purchased lately?
I got nothing. Okay, Trina recently bought parchment paper rounds that perfectly fit a 12 inch cake pan. Because she's just that hardcore.
26. Make up your own question to put here (and answer it).
It's your last meal on death row, what's on the menu?
Really good, spicy Mexican food and a pint of Fat Tire Ale. Maybe two pints.
