I'm feeling a bit exposed after that last post, so I'm hoping to quickly divert your attention with cute pictures and desultory remarks.
At thirteen months, Desmond is enjoying oatmeal for breakfast topped with ground flax seed, wheat germ, blackstrap molasses and soy milk. He is eating most grown-up foods that you can chew with 8 teeth. We had fried rice for lunch yesterday and homemade spaghettios for dinner last night. Toasted sunflower seed butter and jam sandwiches are a frequent lunch, and he ate two tangerines for dessert, though he simply won't listen to me when I tell him that they're now called Satsuma mandarins. I love citrus season.
Also, I love the TV show, Friday Night Lights. Best show on TV. We don't even have one of them television sets, and we manage to find a way to watch every episode. Seriously, it's very important that you watch this show. It's in its second season. Start at the beginning.
Something else I love is what Eric Greenspan is doing to brussels sprouts in Wednesday's food section. I just can't stop thinking about it. I'm going to have to track down some quince.
Happy Hanukkah, y'all.
