Good Land did I just have the greatest weekend. It started with brunch at Flore Vegan Cuisine on Sunset, and let me just tell you it was sing-from-the-rooftops delicious. I was nervous going in, because I have so wanted to love this place and on my last visit I just didn't quite, but oh joy have Flore and I turned a corner. I think we're in love. I can't wait to go back some rainy evening, ensconce myself in that cozy wooden booth by the big front window, and sample her cheese plate. And "fresh kale chips with organic orange slices" - you intrigue me, darling.
But those little tasties are for next time because I am here today to talk to you about brunch. I finally had the opportunity to try the Doin' Denver Omelette. From past experience I can tell you that I have great respect for a successful vegan omelette. And this one certainly was that. The tofu bit was comfortably flavorful and fluffy - just what it ought to be. The insides oozed with bell pepper and onion, tempeh bacon and house cheese. Good, good stuff. The tempeh bacon, by the way, is excellent - a little sweet, a little smoky. And do you see that? There in the back? They crumbled some into my potatoes. I told you, we're in love. If love isn't crumpled tempeh bacon in your potatoes, then I just don't know what is.
Unless it's your radical life partner that shares his Blueberry Buckwheat Bliss pancakes with you. That's nice as well. And these pancakes...these pancakes...oh my, these pancakes. They are nutty with buckwheat and pecans and unexpectedly light and pillowy and such a wonderful foundation for the house-made blueberry apple preserves. Bliss indeed.
Have a great week y'all.
