It sort of relates.
I just finished the worst book, Service Included. Have you read it? Please don’t. It would be better summarized, “Eh, you had to be there.”
I’d already been feeling a bit mopey about food, after being sick last week, and being buried in VeganMoFo (I lose), and getting ready for Desmond’s birthday and all the accompanying hoopla.
But this book, and its 17 courses of boring stories about the real world of a fancy restaurant, killed any hope for a returning appetite.
So the timing was just right to come across a great website with recipes for something other than food. There’s a pumpkin pie face mask and a sweet pumpkin body scrub. There’s a salt water hair spritz and some more recipes involving coffee and chocolate.
I don’t know about you, but I could sure use a little girly pampering right now, and you know I’ve already got a spare 1/2 cup of pumpkin purée to do it with, so I am so happy to have come across Strawberry Hedgehog to give me the know-how.
I lack all girl expertise. Just last week I bought my first blow dryer. My skin is a mess. I don’t know how to not get nail polish everywhere. Oh, and now that I think about it, my toes with their still wet polish have been pressed against the textured wall in front of me for the last ten minutes. Shoot.
I am adopting this website as my cool older sister that knows how to properly apply eye shadow and can explain the benefits of shea butter. I’m so glad she’s there.
Oh, and I’ve been enjoying the blog, but you should know that the author, Tracy Perkins, runs a handmade vegan bath and body company in Arizona. Though I haven’t tried them yet, her soaps and scrubs, lotions and oils look gorgeous, perfect for holiday gift giving.
