This is the current incarnation of the often changing kitchen shelf. These are the books I'm cooking from right now, and a few reference titles that just live there.
What's your favorite? What do you consider the most essential tome on a vegan's shelf? What about for the brand new or vegan-curious, where would you point them? Or maybe with a little knowledge under your belt, what book would you recommend to someone that wants to get a little deeper into vegan cooking?
Or, if you can't answer those questions, maybe snubbr.com can for you. They're a newish internet company that makes it their responsibility to guide you towards quality products and gift ideas and they're hosting a cookbook giveaway for us. Head over to their site and decide which book you'd like to own off their list of the best vegan cookbooks and then come back and leave a comment here about which one you'd like to have. While you're at it, answer one of those questions up there. Or what do you think of their list? What is it missing? Anything you'd take off? I love talking about books. I'm so excited to hear about your favorites.
As I've mentioned approximately 8,000 times, I love Nonna's Italian Kitchen by Bryanna Clark Grogan. I love the specific cookbook. It seems like most vegan texts are pretty broad because simply being vegan is the niche. (Don't get me wrong - it's a good niche.) But I love a book that really specializes. Plus every recipe that I have ever made from this book is just delicious. Have you had her lasagna? And even though it's an incredibly specific subject matter, you learn skills that translate to much more than just Italian cooking, like how to make a vegan beschamel and a good basic cake. Such a useful book.
Also, it's lived over there in the Amazon bar on the left since I read it because I just think it's so great and I don't want you to miss it, but have you read Cook Food by Lisa Jervis? It's the perfect book for someone that wants a simple overview on how to eat healthy food from their own kitchen. The recipes are sensible and easy and she shares her views on food and cooking in an accessible, informative manner. Love it.
Now, since they're going to give one of you a free book, I'm supposed to tell you to, "Visit snubbr.com for gift ideas and shopping advice."
Contest ends Tuesday, March 30th, 10AM PST, when I'll pick a commenter at random. Good Luck. Now, let's talk books.
